Roman Villa Event, 2nd - 3rd July 2016

Bignor Roman Villa

Many thanks to Toni and Paul McGloin for coordinating another excellent weekend at Bignor Roman Villa. Saturdays weather fluctuations gave way to a glorious sunny Sunday, and one of the largest group of visitors, who were very vocal during the final fight...good result all round there then...

Some outstanding gladiatorial fights over the two days, which was commented on by our Roman soldier guests, visitors who had visited before and the villa staff, so a huge pat on the back there folks... the fights that stand out for me: Corvia (Kelly) vrs Marcus (Mark) dimachaerus (two swords), brutal, fast and furious, excellent to watch; Ursus (John) and Rufus (James) full of action, great moves, changes of weapons, really impressive finale; Lupus (Benedikt) and Petrus (Peter) some great shield moves, great defense, very well executed and great to watch; Falco (Sam) and Corvia (Kelly) great sword work, speed and movement, really exciting to watch; Calidus (Harry) and Corvia (Kelly) certainly gave Corvia the run around, some great sword play and a good death at the end young man...

Well done to all who assisted with the living history, displays and crafts over the two days, it was certainly well received by the visitors and really looked good. Thanks to John and Kim Brinni for providing the military angle once again, always great to have you with us.

Many thanks to Apollo Archery (Glenn) for providing have-ago-archery for the weekend, much appreciated...

Overall another great team effort, and a great weekend. My thanks to all for your time and support at this event. Cheers all.
