Arundel Castle Easter 2011, Normans & Crusaders
Group photograph

A hot and sunny three days at Arundel castle gave our Norman Knights and Crusaders a real taste of fighting in the Holy Land 900 years…it was truly more like July than April! With some top fighting, some much improved archery, and some new blood stained rags for my holy relic box, it was an excellent start to the season.

Arise! our newest Norman Knight, Peter Le Duc (not “duck” as I said in his dubbing, sorry), a well deserved promotion for real dedication to the group, to the historical period, and for shedding a serious amount of blood in the line of having “fun!”

My thanks to Jaki Lake, who donned the habit of the Templar’s and who put on a top display of mounted combat and hunting games; Keith of Distant Trumpets who is never short of a tall tale; and Kevin at Plessis Armour who the more noise he makes draws ever bigger crowds. Special thanks to Mistress Morag, who’s range of period dishes is ever more extensive, and to all those who participated and supported this event.
