Arundel Castle Multiperiod, 23rd - 25th August 2025
Arundel Castle
Arundel Castle Festival of History 12,000 Year
Day 1
Strange old atmosphere weather wise, which really seemed to flatten energies, especially from the watching visitors that were blooming hard work to get a reaction from.
Nonetheless, a dry day everyday we will take.
Over 1500 through the gates, on an Arundel Festivities Saturday was a great achievement.
Huge respect and thanks to all historical periods, encampment, displays, and you all looked excellent.
Opening day and Gold Stars to WW2 for the Home front of George and Emma, two excellent presentations; 13th century, the helmet display by Sir Christopher was really impressive; 14th century, an excellent presentation display, kit and clothing wise to The de Kerr Household, Gavin, Sasha, Adam and Sam M.
Show casing so many timeperiods has been one of the group strengths, and has allowed a real opportunity to strutt your interest, and it really worked today.
Huge cheer for Sir Stephens trousers, and an even bigger cheer to Aoife for producing such an amazing garment.
Thanks to Sam M, Jane C and Harrison for contributing to todays photo stash.
Day 2
Sun was out, heat went up, and 1850 visitors through the gates produced another great day at the castle.
Visitors were more vocal than yesterday but certainly took work to get them making a noise no matter who was out in the arena.
Excellent living history displays from all once again, and really impressive combat from all.
Gold Star to Morag for her portrail of Queen Eleanor; to Aoife for the creation of Stephens 16th century outfit (a cheer for the trousers); and Papas surgeons display.
Great work from all, and well done to everyone to get rid of vehicles and get on site thus avoiding the Fun Run.
Final day tomorrow, so here's hoping saving the best to last.
Thanks to Sam M for contributing the bulk of today's photos... and few additions from Sam T.
Day 3
An awesome final day, to a very successful weekend, and I think one of the best Multiperiod Events we have hosted.
Well done to everyone for all the hardwork, time and effort that you put into your period displays... It really paid off, with just recognition from the castle (see previous posting).
Sadly the last if the large events for this year but smaller events and Training Sundays are fast approaching.
Huge thank you to everyone for all your support and friendship over this weekend, and all prior events, always very much appreciated.
And Gold Stars today for Sir Christopher working the audience and the finale fight against Sir Martin, epic; To our mincing Royalist Musketeer; display wise definitely 14th century, great team effort there folks well done; and to our beer drinking Bronze Agers for a cracking display, most of which they had either made themselves or were part of making, well done David and Izzy.
Well done all..
From Andrew...
Dear Paul,
What a fabulous event and what a great way to finish the Arundel Event season for many and I look forward to seeing others at the smaller Historical Characters event at October half-term.
Visitors love the event and this year’s tent positioning with a clear historical layout was a great enhancement. Thank you to everyone who took such trouble/attention to detail on their individual displays & outfits which contributed to an extremely high quality event of which everyone individually and collectively should be very proud of. We had over 5300 visitors over the three days.
A big thank you (in the middle of my message so you can’t delete it) to Paul for the organisation & coordination of this and the other events this season.
Wishing everyone a safe journey home and thank you again.
Kind regards
Andrew
