Arundel Castle Norman, 3rd - 5th April 2026

Arundel Castle

Fri 3 - Sun 5 April

Day 1 Well this day certainly turned out well considering the wet start.

Good steady flow of people, that proved to be a very supportive and appreciative audience to everything in the arena, and considerably better weather by the end of the day.

Encampment looked really good, and plenty of evidence that people had been thinking about their table displays. Well done Harrison for a really good woodworking display, great set up, and plenty of interaction. Well done Izzy for surviving first combat day at an event.

And Well done Andy H for very impressive tent interior display.

Some very impressive combat and archery from all, and certainly a very good start to the three day event.

Thanks to Sam M and Jane C for contributing to today's photos. Huge Happy Birthday to Marek and Jack, well deserved bumps received by both.

Huge thanks to everyone who attended today and who contributed to a very successful opening to the event.

Here's hoping for drier weather for next two days.

Day 2

The Weather Gods hadn't looked at the forecast so started with a drizzly and blustery morning, but the Sacrificial Chicken had to pay off eventually, and the sun came out, and beautiful afternoon ensued.

The 2300 visitors yesterday, were nothing to today's numbers.

The count is still ongoing but its estimated over 3000.

Well done to all archers and combatants, some excellent displays today, and a very appreciative audience.

The return of Sir Mark (Sir Fairweather) to the arena was a great addition to the combat line up, and Mistress Ki certainly deserves a mention for her archery.

Another excellent spread of food from Mistress Morag, and huge thanks to Jane and Steffi for sorting the fish and chips once again.

Final day tomorrow so hopefully the best weather is yet to come.

Sunday 5 April Day 3

What an amazing day weather wise, and just the right tonic to finish the 3 days.

Another 2700 visitors, added to 3300 on Sat and the 2300 on Friday, means a very successful event.

Some outstanding combat and archery again today, well done all.

For a first event, huge respect to Harrison, Izzy and Rowan, excellent display and combat folks, well done.

Thanks to Sam M, Jane C, Uresha and Papa for contributing to the photo hoard, some amazing pictures over the 3 days, well done all.

Huge thanks to Morag, Courtney and Stephen, for all the shopping, prepping and cooking of the food, and to all those who helped or at least offered to help in the cooking.

A very successful first event, and my thanks to all those who helped and supported others in group, especially with set up and take down, and who attended and participated in the event.

Onwards to next weekend at the villa... Cheers all
