Arundel Castle Joust Week

Joust Week Day 1

And we are off. First day of Joust Week, and very busy first couple of hours and then a steady flow to reach 1600 visitors.

Some loverly people through the gates, everyone said they had had plenty of chats with people, and lots of very positive comments from people throughout the day.

Well done to everyone who participated on the first day.

encampment looked great, and everyone did well with the space they had to work with.

5 more days to go folks, and some big visitor numbers have already booked tickets especially for Saturday.

Joust Week Day 2

Warmer, and I'd say a heavier atmosphere, today and another 1600 visitors through the gates.

Not as much interaction as yesterday although those that did stop were all lovely and interested.

Huge thanks to everyone who participated today, especially those who were at the gates for opening.

Another great day, and if Ticket sales are anything to go by, a busier day tomorrow, with a very busy day on Saturday forecast..

Joust Day 3

Another fine day, and 9 coach loads of students pushed up the visitor numbers to 1700. Plenty going on in the encampment, a despite the heat at times a bit of a breeze at times helped.

Thanks to Stephi for adding to today's photos, and thanks to those who came along on the Gatehouse/Keep Tour, especially for the herding.

Three days in, and some of us are on for a four day stretch tomorrow.

Well done to everyone who has attended and supported the event so far.

Great team effort, and thanks all who helped and supplied and supported Morag with food/food prep today.

Really great spread of food.

Joust Day 4

Sunshine and Cloudy, and at times pretty warm and another 2200 visitors through the gates.

Certainly plenty of interaction from everyone today, witj some very chatty and loverly visitors.

The star of today was certainly Sir Stephens beef pie, seriously tasty and another baking triumph in Dan's oven.Well done mate.

Huge thanks to Sam M for the bulk of the portrait photos today, contribution from Jane C and myself.

To all those who helped and supported with the oiks who got into the castle grounds, many thanks.

Huge thanks to everyone who participated today... Rest up as there's 2700 pre booked tickets for Saturday.

Another very successful day encampment wise, homeward straight now folks.

Joust Day 5

Well we knew it was going to be busy, but 3900+ beat the previous record but will be hard to beat.

Castle held it together, and a huge thanks to all who helped out with the queues, especially Kevin who supported both Myal/Peg with water, and Catering.

Huge thanks to all who supported the day, especially to Morag who was cooking in the heat most of the day. Final push for tomorrow folks, another 2500+ is predicted so gonna finish on a high.

Joust Week Day 6

Well we made it folks, and a huge well done to you all.

Over 14,000 visitors over the week, 3200 today which was bit of a surprise to say the least. Huge thanks to everyone who participated over the 6 days, great effort from you all and very much appreciated I assure you.

Thanks to Sam M and Jane C for contributing to today's photos.
